DrFirst Enters the Music Industry with Debut Album “Prescription for Laughter: Songs to Unite the Healthiverse”

Health IT Pioneer Uses Music to Highlight Everyday Friction in Healthcare

Rockville, Md. – April 1, 2025 To celebrate 25 years of innovation in healthcare technology, DrFirst is launching a unique initiative that uses music to spotlight common pain points in healthcare. Its debut album, Prescription for Laughter: Songs to Unite the Healthiverse, is a five-track collection that turns real-life challenges into story-driven songs.

Music has a unique ability to spark ideas, according to a National Institutes of Health study. Inspired by the company’s vision to improve healthcare outcomes for everyone, music production is a natural next step for DrFirst in its work to optimize medication management from prescribing to adherence.

“Many of us have heard a song that helped us see a familiar issue in a new way,” said G. Cameron Deemer, CEO of DrFirst. “That’s exactly why we created this album. We want to encourage fresh thinking about the daily frustrations people face in healthcare—things many have come to accept as ‘just the way it is.’ However, technology already exists to bring harmony to these pain points, which is music to the ear of everyone involved in creating good outcomes.”

Each song tells a different story through the eyes of patients, healthcare providers, and even a forgotten prescription left behind at the pharmacy:

Hold, Please: Prior Authorization Blues (2:42)

Left on the Shelf: Abandoned, Unclaimed, Unloved (2:52)

Refill Rodeo: A Prescription Renewal Wild Ride (3:12)

Portal Panic: A Patient’s Struggle to Keep Up (2:55)

Lost in Translation: The Interoperability Illusion (3:54)

While these songs are delivered with humor, the issues they highlight are serious—from interoperability gaps to prior authorization delays and prescription renewal headaches. These stories illustrate the everyday friction that disrupts clinical workflows and patient health.

“These songs are funny because they’re true—but they also show how much better healthcare could be with intelligent technology that connects stakeholders in real time,” said Deemer. “Friction in healthcare is optional. We’re here to help remove it.”

The album will be available soon on major streaming platforms at no cost in celebration of the DrFirst 25th anniversary and its commitment to leading the way in healthcare innovation.

Watch for announcements coming soon about additional releases and an upcoming tour.
