Nation's Leading E-prescribing Company Recognized for Achieving Highest Quality Standards in the Industry

July 7, 2011

July 7, 2011, Rockville, MD – DrFirst, the nation’s e-prescribing leader, recently received the Surescripts White Coat of Quality award for the Rcopia e-prescribing system in recognition of its consistent commitment to excellence in the electronic prescribing process. The award recognizes that DrFirst monitors and reports on quality metrics and works closely with Surescripts on continuous improvement, including raising overall prescriber awareness through focused training.

In order to ensure that vendors adhere to important quality measures, Surescripts created the White Coat of Quality award in 2011. Earning a White Coat allows for industry recognition of organizations and individuals who uphold the highest quality standards for e-prescribing in the healthcare industry.

While most experts agree that e-prescribing and, more generally, health IT improve the safety of care, there are steps that can be taken to ensure – as former ONC Director Dr. David Blumenthal put it – “that implementation is as safe as it can be and all safety benefits are realized.”

“DrFirst has always been a Surescripts Gold Solution Provider,” said G. Cameron Deemer, President of DrFirst. “But the White Coat award recognizes that our company has taken a step beyond simply providing technology. We are deeply committed to quality and safety as we continue to deliver top-notch products aimed at helping doctors get back to being a doctor first.”

About Surescripts Industry-Wide Quality Program

E-prescribing increases safety, improves efficiency, and reduces the cost of healthcare for all. Surescripts’ industry-wide quality program ensures that these benefits are fully realized. The program is made possible by a nationwide network that can monitor prescription quality in a way that has never been done before – one capable of defining, measuring and analyzing the safety, accuracy and completeness of the health information that flows through it. By collaborating with pharmacists, physicians, technologists and Six Sigma Black Belt experts, the quality program aims to achieve 100 percent reliability in e-prescribing process — from the time a prescription is first considered by the prescriber to the time the medication is dispensed and all points in between.
