The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy Welcomes DrFirst to Its Distinguished Membership

Today, the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP) welcomed DrFirst as a new corporate member.

As the unified voice of specialty pharmacy, NASP provides educational programs, offers the nation’s only certified specialty pharmacist certification program, and advocates on behalf of specialty pharmacy patients and the specialty pharmacy industry.
DrFirst is a pioneer in technology, support, and services that connect people at touchpoints of patient care. Its solutions are used by nearly 300,000 healthcare professionals, including more than 100,000 prescribers, nearly half of the EHRs in the U.S., and more than 1,400 hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. DrFirst systems touch more than 107 million electronic prescriptions each year, and its Backline care collaboration platform hosts millions of minutes of telehealth sessions monthly.

“Welcoming DrFirst to NASP expands our members’ access to services and support that can help specialty pharmacists streamline communication across multiple points of contact for better medication management, patient engagement, and care collaboration, including telehealth,” said Sheila Arquette, President and Chief Executive Officer of NASP. “DrFirst is committed to delivering patient-centric care and enhancing clinical outcomes that deepen the connectivity and collaboration our members strive for across the industry.”

The number of specialty pharmacies has more than doubled in the past five years and accounts for 36% of prescription revenues, according to an industry report. “Specialty pharmacy plays a significant and unique role in patient safety and medication adherence,” said G. Cameron Deemer, president of DrFirst. “Through our partnership with NASP, we can help connect specialty pharmacies with their patients and stakeholders throughout the healthcare universe, enabling more informed care.”

NASP offers a broad array of networking and educational benefits to its corporate and individual members. Members include specialty pharmacies, pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturers, health systems, health plans, wholesalers/distributors, technology vendors, and practicing pharmacists.
