Eleven States Are Ready to Start Cutting Meaningful Use Incentive Checks for Medicaid: Have you Registered Yet?

It’s official!
Two states have already paid out incentive checks just 2 days after registration for the ARRA HITECH Medicare and Medicaid programs started! 2011 is the easiest year to demonstrate meaningful use because Medicaid’s initial criteria for it is very minimal; all an organization must demonstrate is that it is using or adopting an ONC-ATB certified EHR.
Therefore, if your practice is located in the following 11 states and you have registered, you can expect to begin receiving Medicaid incentive payments in January!

  • Alaska
  • Iowa
  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Oklahoma
  • Michigan
  • Mississippi
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas

Three more states are also slated to begin accepting Medicaid ARRA registration in February:

  • California
  • Missouri
  • North Dakota

Keep your eye on this blog, because we’ll keep our eyes out on which states will start in the spring and summer!
Before I forget! If you’re wondering who got paid…
1st Hospital: University of Kentucky Healthcare – $2.86 million (This is 1/3 of the total meaningful use payments it expects to receive from Medicaid over the term of the program)
1st Practice: 2 Providers at Gastorf Family Clinic in Durant, OK, each received their first-year checks of $21,250 each! (BTW, that’s only 1/3 of what they could potentially receive as well– the maximum for the entire program is almost $64,000 per provider!)
So…what are you waiting for?? This isn’t a lottery! Everybody who is eligible wins!
